Premier League Mid-Season Predictions: What to Expect in 2025

The Premiers League’s unprecedented season seems to continue into the second half. It has become one of the most competitive and unpredictable leagues in the world, with clubs constantly finding new ways to adapt and evolve. The rise of new talents, the change in managerial tactics, and the shifting power between clubs will make the 2025 season one of the most exciting in recent memory.

Last season will be remembered for Manchester City winning six of the past seven Premier League titles and becoming the first team in English football history to win four successive league crowns. Can City make it five in a row? Well, they have the strongest team, the best manager, and substantial financial resources, but so far it looks like Liverpool ensured this year’s title.

Premier League Mid-Season Predictions: What to Expect in 2025

Liverpool started this season in outstanding form, only to continue with an impressive 50 points from 21 matches. Their record of 15 wins, 5 draws, and just a single defeat speaks volumes about their consistency and quality. The departure of Jurgen Klopp marked a new era for The Reds. Many expressed their doubts about new coach Arend Slot continuing with the strong play that Klopp instilled into the team. Generally, Dutch coaches have struggled to succeed in English football due to the Premier League being a much tougher environment than their home teams. Despite that, under the guidance of Arend Martijn Slot, Liverpool has maintained their powerful, strong style of play that has become a staple with the club in recent years. The new coach managed to convince the biggest names in his team, like Salah and Van Dijk, that he can continue upgrading Klopp’s legacy.

Liverpool is playing Ipswich on January 25th, but the match is hardly in limbo. The team’s most recent result, a crushing 6-0 home defeat to Manchester City, will have done little to boost morale within the camp. Ipswich have lost their last three league games against Liverpool by an aggregate score of 13-0 while Liverpool is holding the six-point lead at the top of the Premier League table. There is little to hope for from this match, except that Liverpool is going to solidify its reign this season. Slot’s men secured a 2-1 win over Lille which made their upcoming stint against PSV Eindhoven.

Arsenal is emerging as a runner-up this year, with 6 points behind Liverpool. In 22 matches they amassed 12 wins, 8 draws and 5 losses with one match more than the leading team.  This season might be lost, but Artreta’s men are looking more and more ready to get that title finally next year. There is a sense now that they are developing a harder edge through disappointments, losses and mishaps, and it could lead to a greater focus on winning next season.

Chelsea continues to be in turmoil continuing what seems to be never-ending chaos in the camp. The Pensioners have their sixth club manager in place since 2022, Enzo Maresca who replaced Mauricio Pochettino after only one season. He is just one of the managers who is trying to reach higher places on the table with very talented but inexperienced young players on the team. So, for this year don’t get your hopes up. Most likely, we’re going to see more of the same. At the moment, they are sitting in fourth place with 40 points, in front of Man City with whom they have a match in the upcoming weekend. With odds against them, it might be a good moment to put in a low-risk sports bet io on the Citizens.

At the beginning of the season, it would be borderline impossible to predict today’s result of Man City. Even the team’s manager, Guardiola was pessimistic about his team making any further progress until the next season. Manchester City would be “embarrassed” to fail to make the UEFA Champions League knockouts after defeat to Paris Saint-Germain left them on the brink of elimination. Surely, Pep Guardiola knew that the team was not in top shape, but he would have never expected such a nerve-wracking season. Manchester City players have now surrendered eight points in Europe and 14 in the Premier League from leading positions leaving them at the fifth place on the Premier League table. The loss from PSG means the reigning English Premier League champion is now on the brink of elimination from the tournament, needing a win in its last group game against Club Brugge. City now sits 25th in the Champions League table, just outside the playoff qualification spots, having managed just eight points from its seven group games so far. In any case, the favorite turned out to be a major disappointment with its lack of focus, lost duels, sluggish movements on the field, and shattered morale. The only thing left is to use the summer break to prepare and try to make a comeback.
